2008 Fishing Reports after June 1st

June 1, 2008 Had a good day today in the gulfstream with wahoo and dolphin. Will post pics soon - I left my camera home that day. Had to start a new section after June because it was taking too long for all the pics to load for the first part of the year. So here goes for the second half of 2008... June 4, 2008` I had a good trip today inshore, we caught a couple of dolphin to go with our king mackeral. We didn't have to go all the way out to the stream to find them today.
June 5, 2008 Barracuda are showing up inshore too. Yikes! This one looks like it could take a bite out of ya!
June 6, 2008 Back on half-day trips for a while, these trips are a lot of fun for young kids and I really enjoy taking them fishing. These little fellas had a good time catching spanish mackeral and sharks today.
June 7, 2008` We caught about 45 spanish mackeral and one keeper king at the sea buoy today about a mile off of the beach on a half day trip.
June 8, 2008 These young kids had a blast today too. They were first-timers out in the ocean fishing. We caught spanish and sharks. Big spinnaker sharks and blacktips are beginning to show up on the beach. We had two on and lost one about six foot long that ate through 110 pd. wire. I'm sure I'll be posting some big shark pics in the next couple of weeks.
June 8 2008 Hold the rod shark gonna pull him out the boat.
June 10 2008 This nice "young" lady - over 70 years old - caught her first fish tonight on a night trip. It was her first trip out on the ocean AND the first fish she ever caught. We caught spanish mackeral at first, then the sharks took over. I'm starting to book night trips now for July and August - trips starting at 6:00pm and 11:00pm.
June 11 2008 I had an 8 hour trip today. This group from Pennsylvania caught enough to eat and released the rest for the next time. We had king mackerals, grunts, and sharks.
June 12 2008 Spanish mackeral bit good today on a half day trip. We got enough for a good fish fry.
June 13 2008 1/2 Day trips next couple days.Spanish mackerel and shark fishing.Spanish bit god again today and sharks
June 13 2008 We had good family fun today. These young girls had a great time catching sharks and spanish mackeral. They went with me last year and caught some dolphin and wahoo in the gulfstream.
June 14 2008 Sharks should have some big ones this week

June 22 2008 Good day on a 8 hr trip nice King Mackerel and some Cobia.and bottom Grunts and Sea Bass.

June 24 2008 Shark night trips in swing now.Fun to watch the sun go down and catching a big shark.this group from New Jersey had a chance at some toothy fish
June 25 2008 On our eight hour trip today we caught some king mackeral and another fish 30 lbs. This little guy in the chair really loved to fish!
June 27 2008 Black tips are thick on the beach good morning with a couple King Mackeral and then we went sharking.
July 4 2008 Nice catch today on 8 hr trip.
July 6 2008 These young guys caught some nice king mackeral today on an 8 hour trip. The one on the left won the money in the pot. You can tell his is a lot bigger than the other two! When someone came by and cut off my corks while shark fishing...... their dad said, "Hey kids, it's like fishing with dad back home!"
July 13, 2008 I've been doing some offshore trips last couple days. We went to the gulf stream a couple of days ago. As far as trolling in the stream, don't waste your money. Fishing is slow now and won't pick up in the gulfstream trolling trips until end of Sept. As far as bottomfishing goes on twelve hour trips, we've been doing good with snapper and grouper, triggerfish and grunts, and king mackeral on 8 hour trips. Today we caught a nice mess of bottom fish.
July 13 2008 Young fisherman catching two at a time. I go back on shark trips next two weeks. I ought to have some nice pics of big sharks.
July 14 2008 Spanish mackeral showing back up today on morning trip. We had a nice little catch. On the afternoon trip, we found some sharks and then went and dragged the shrimp net at the end of the trip to catch some shrimp.
July 15 2008 Another sharkey morning-caught a few, not many- on a half day trip. I think the northeast wind turned the bite off a little bit.
July 15 2008 this young angler had a good fight with a black tip this morning.
July 16 2008 Sharks bit better this afternoon late. We lost a big one right before this one. He jumped out of the water about 6 foot and slung the hooks. We always just try to pierce the lips with the gaff so we don't do any harm to these young sharks.
July 20 2008 Catching sharks on the beach - alot lately. This one is not too big but gave this kid a great fight.
July 24 2008 More sharks, still a lot of sharks.
July 28 2008 Still catching plenty of sharks on the beach and some spanish here and there. I've been doing a lot of half-day trips lately so we havent had the chance for those big offshore fish but I've heard it's been slow in the gulfstream.
August 1 2008 Finally, the month of the spanish mackeral! We've been catching some nice spanish on the last couple of half-day trips. Here's a pic of a nice size spanish mackeral.
August 4 2008 This young guy had a double-header of sea bass on a half-day trip with his family.
August 9 2008 Inshore wrecks are full of big barracuda. Catch 'em, fight 'em, and release 'em. We also caught a mess of spanish mackeral.
August 11, 2008 Spanish mackeral showed up really thick last couple of days. This group from West Virginia had a fun day on the water this morning.
August 20 2008 Plenty of Black Sea Bass for the kids this week

August 24 2008 Spanish Mackeral showing back up now this young angler had a good time on a fishing trip with her dad.
August 25 2008 The famous Atlantic sharpnose sharks are back to on the beach fun fight on light tackle
August 25 2008 Weather was a little rough today, but these kids got to do something they never had. Hats off to the people that donate their time and money for needy kids.
August 26 2008 Group had a fun catch for sea bass and sharks
August 30 2008 Done a 8 hr trip today lots of bottom fish and one nice Gag Grouper.Thease guys dad holding the grouper up,caught the 1st fish ,last fish and the most grouper.

Sep 15 2008 Bottom fishing good in the Gulf Stream now and when Oct gets here the wahoo and King Mackeral will be in full swing.
Oct 03 2008 Fall fishing is turned on wide open for the next month. We had a very productive day on an 8 hour trip today. We had good catches of grouper, turbo grunts, sea bass, amberjacks, and king mackeral feeding up for winter. There's a lot of bait off our coast right now, making their appetite real good with the water cooling down. This time of year is my favorite time to fish, especially in the gulfstream because 80-pound+ wahoo start to show up.

Nov 01 2008 Offshore King Mackeral bit is on big tiger shark tried eating this one had a good day with the bottom fish too.
Nov 17 2008 Black bass are bitting excellent with the water cooling down on the beach, today we had a good 1/2 day trip with group from Tennessee we had alot of keepers.This is the best time of year to fish for them.
Nov 25 2008 Just got in from commercial trip with the King Mackeral Had about 900 lbs and some grouper to go with them. Kings are in 70 degree water.Its time for the Bluefin tuna run. fish are being caught up the road in Morehead NC they should show up here next week I have some charters book for them next couple of weeks. Dec 05 2008 Good 1/2 day trip today black sea bass doing good.lots of keepers with couple from NC.It was her first time in the ocean fishing.
Dec 19 2008 1st Bluefin Tuna this year with Capt Bob. 78 inch fish on his way to Japan.
Dec 27 2008 Yesterday we had a nice bluefin on that hooked up about 6:20 in the morning. The fish came to the top of the water twice during the fight and looked like it may have been around 4-500 lbs. At 8:30 we had the leader to the boat. We got the swivel on the rod 2 or 3 times. On the fourth time, the fish had a little more spunk to him and when he pulled the swivel through the rod eyes again something happened. He popped the line at the crimp. This bluefin fishing is very tough fishing when you have got a fish that is 100 inches long.
